La Maison Verte is a large traditional Breton house located in the quiet village of Porcaro near Ploermel in Southern Brittany. This spacious detached property with its secluded garden has spectacular views across unspoilt rolling countryside and is superbly located for those wanting both the idyllic tranquility of rural France together with the option of getting out and about to visit the nearby towns, restaurants and sandy beaches. Sleeps six in three bedrooms plus cot & highchair. The entire house was completely renovated over the 2007/8 winter and is now brand new from top to bottom with all new furniture, fittings and appliances throughout. The village of Porcaro has about 100 houses, a small general store (including fresh baguettes and cakes), a depot vente (Brocante) and two bars, one of which will serve meals on request. The nearest large towns are Guer and Ploermel; about five minutes away. Here you will find banks, supermarkets and restaurants. For more info see the Local Towns link on the Things to Do page. The house is situated in the heart of the village and the `C` road it is on only sees a few cars an hour. The locality is excellent for walking and cycling with dozens of lanes, paths and tracks running throughout the countryside (we're also told it’s a great spot for bird watchers -hawks, buzzards and eagles are all to be seen). A couple of hundred yards from the house is the River Oyon where you can take a stroll along the forest paths .......lookout for the magnificent chateau which overlooks the river.. Ground floor The built in kitchen has extensive work surfaces and all the appliances you`d expect. There is a full size fridge freezer, a cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and toaster. The room has a bright holiday feel to it as its four windows allow the sun to flood in. There`s a table and chairs in the centre for snacks on the hoof. The room has a front door as well as a back door which leads directly into the garden.
